Michal Prokop is a Czech rocker and bluesman, twice inducted into the Beat Hall of Fame, a member of the Anděl Hall of Fame of the Czech Music Academy, and a recipient of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic. He performs live with the band Framus Five and with Michal Prokop Trio.
At the time of its formation, Michal Prokop Trio was also known as Nu-Trio. The project was founded in 1987 by three longtime musical friends and collaborators: Michal Prokop, guitarist Luboš Andršt, and violinist Jan Hrubý. From the start, it was a project that differed in repertoire and expression from Prokop's work in the rock band Framus Five, with a significantly greater emphasis on improvisation.
Following Luboš Andršt's health issues in 2020, the trio suspended its activities. After a break and a change in personnel, it now performs with guitarist Pavel Marzel, who holds the same position in Framus Five.
