I Swear It's Not My Fault

Fifteen-year-old John (Robert Aramayo) sees his life transformed when Tourette syndrome suddenly strikes, bringing uncontrollable vocal and physical tics. He finds himself in conflict and isolation – shame prevents him from forming relationships, while the world around him barely knows about his condition and fails to understand it.

This British film is based on the true story of John Davidson. It tells of his initially carefree adolescence, which gives way to harsh alienation, as he is rejected by an uncomprehending world and struggles to find his place in it.

A turning point comes when he meets Dottie (Maxine Peake), the energetic mother of a former classmate, who opens a new path for him. Through this relationship, he finds support, understanding, and the courage to face his own life – and also the ability to use his condition with humour to raise awareness. The British queen might even notice.
