MAOK returns to Žďár nad Sázavou on Friday, 21 August 2026 for a concert in the baroque Prelatura of the castle. This is one of two Czech dates on their tour, which also includes a July performance in Řevnice. The Prelatura is a representative baroque building within the castle complex, originally serving as the residence of the abbot of a Cistercian monastery. The programme features the newest compositions from their album Oneiro. Admission from 590 CZK.

About the venue: Prelatura - Žďár nad Sázavou Castle

The baroque prelature in the Žďár nad Sázavou castle complex was built between 1722 and 1727 as the official residence of Abbot Václav Vejmluva, designed by Jan Blažej Santini. The main hall on the first floor is dominated by a ceiling fresco painted by Karel František Töpper around 1734 - one that has never needed restoration. For nearly sixty years the building housed the Museum of Books; since its closure in 2014, the hall (capacity 120 seated) has been used for concerts, theatre performances and wedding ceremonies.

Slovak musician and multi-instrumentalist Martin Tesák has performed as Maok for over 17 years, weaving together ambient, ethnic and psychedelic sounds in improvised sets. With more than 25 albums and film scores for directors Juraj Jakubisko and Pavol Barabáš, he favours churches, planetariums and other spaces with exceptional acoustics.
