Masterclass in Dance Partnering and Acrobatics
Janáčkova konzervatoř, Ostrava
An intensive workshop in partnering and partner acrobatics for movement-experienced participants.
This three-hour masterclass is led by Michaela Kadlčíková and Matyáš Ramba. It is designed for dancers, performers, and other movement-experienced participants who want to expand their work with partnering and partner acrobatics.
The lesson will focus on working with the body in contact, principles of partnering, weight transfer, and the fundamentals of acrobatics and their use in dance movement. Participants will explore ways to communicate without words, perceive the reactions of another body, and move between control and release. It is not just about "tricks" - the path to them is essential: the ability to listen to your partner, distribute force correctly, offer and accept support, and together find functional, safe, and vibrant movement.
Michaela Kadlčíková and Matyáš Ramba work at the intersection of contemporary dance, physical theatre, and new circus. As performers and creators, they have collaborated with ensembles including 420PEOPLE, Losers Cirque Company, Lenka Vagnerová & Company, and other projects on the Czech and international scene. They are co-founders of the DoubleSalt collective, whose creative work combines dance, acrobatics, and physical theatre.
