The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged Version)
A wild comedy suitable for both adults and those who dare to venture in.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) was written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfried, translated by Jiří Joska and directed by Ladislav Kolář. Starring Viktor Skála, Rastislav Gajdoš and Aleš Slanina.
The play appeals to both Shakespeare scholars and those who remember the name Hamlet only vaguely from school - everyone finds something for themselves in it. All 37 plays and 154 sonnets unfold in two hours. The audience learns about Shakespeare's life and work, but also sees what happens when an actor collapses under the weight of the famous soliloquy on being and non-being, or when one of the actors decides mid-show that he simply won't play Hamlet again. It's theatrical fast food at a wild pace that quickly introduces the audience to the author and his work.
The script was written by and all roles are played by American authors Jess Borgeson, Adam Long and Daniel Singer. The play premiered on June 9, 1987 in California, the European premiere took place in March 1992 in London's West End and has been performed throughout Europe ever since.
