Along the Hussite Path — Jungmannovo náměstí, Prague

Prague witnessed many pivotal moments of national history. One of the most significant was the beginning of the Hussite Revolution, whose traces this walk follows.

The route starts at the Church of Our Lady of the Snows on Jungmannovo Square, where the Hussite Revolution broke out on 30 July 1419. From there it continues to the Bethlehem Chapel, associated with Jan Hus's preaching, and further to Řetězová Street, where Jan Žižka found shelter and was treated after an eye injury. Next is the Old Town Hall with a memorial plaque to the radical preacher Jan Želivský. The walk ends at the Tyn Church, where the priest and later archbishop Jan Rokycana, who served there from 1424-1471, is buried.

During the walk, stories and lesser-known details from the lives of Jan Hus, Jan Žižka and other figures of this era will be shared. In the atmosphere of the approaching holidays, Hussite Christmas carols will be recalled from recordings. The walk is led by Miroslav Houška, author of the book "The Chalice and the Crescent".

Meeting point: at the statue of Josef Jungmann on Jungmannovo Square; end point: at the Tyn Church. The route is approximately 2 km and lasts about 1.5 hours. Discounted admission 200 CZK applies to visitors 65+ and students; children under 15 pay 30 CZK. Payment is made to the guide on site, in cash, no reservation needed - provided the walk capacity is not full.
