Kopytem sem, kopytem tam
"The threat of AIDS is the catalyst for this film's story, but it is meant to work in a broader sense - as any kind of threat, as any crisis in our lives. It is about how we behave in such a moment of danger. Some say I am a moralist. But I really don't know what is unrelated to morality. Every action is, after all, either moral or immoral. I realized that every threat comes from within ourselves, paradoxically from our own desires. What do we long for? For satisfaction, for living our lives fully, for feeling good. But there is a difference in what each of us sees in that. There are not just sensual pleasures. Unfortunately, people do not use all possibilities. Usually we reach only for pleasures that are easy to obtain: the pleasure of eating, drinking, making love - and often we don't even realize what a pleasure it truly is to see, to feel, to think. And what about the pleasure of independence, space and freedom! And that is what this film is about - so that we reach for deeper pleasures and higher principles, so we don't end up in a dead end." Věra Chytilová (1989)
