Jezek on the Waves of Time
Following the famous melodies: the lesser-known story of Jaroslav Jezek.
Bugatti Step, Life is Just Chance, A Hat in the Bushes... Most of us know the melodies of Jaroslav Jezek. But do we really know Jezek himself?
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the composer's birth, we will follow his famous melodies and look at their creator from a different angle than we might imagine. What other music did he write? What did he listen to, who inspired him, how did he live, and what lies behind his well-known name?
We will also explore Jezek's legacy in the National Museum - unique photographs, manuscripts, documents, personal objects, and the preserved Blue Room from that era. Following their traces, we will discover Jezek not only as a celebrated composer, but as a person with his own dreams, joys, obstacles, and a distinctive view of the world.
The lecture is presented by Filip Sir, project manager and sound archaeologist at the Czech Music Heritage, and Veronika Gasparova, digitization coordinator at the Czech Music Heritage.
