Langweil's Model of Prague
NTK - National Technical Library, Prague · free
Langweil's model is probably the most famous exhibit of the Prague Museum - a perfect paper replica of Prague's historic core as it appeared around 1830. Through it, one can walk through a city that no longer exists today, as hundreds of buildings have been demolished since then.
A lecture by PhDr. Kateřina Bečková (Prague Museum) explores, based on historical sources, the life of Antonín Langweil - what kind of person he was, what drove him to his work, and how his life unfolded. Interestingly, Langweil lived and worked in Prague's Clementinum between 1822 and 1837.
The lecture is part of the Genealogy+ series organized by the National Library of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Czech Genealogical and Heraldic Society in Prague.
