Moderated Discussion with Students

Jamgön Kongtrul Rinpoche will explore the difference between studying Buddhist teachings and their practical application in everyday life - what it means not merely to know Buddhist doctrine, but to live it in practice.

The meeting will also address the relationship between Buddhist tradition and contemporary philosophy, psychology, and mind science: where these worlds can mutually enrich each other and where their underlying assumptions remain fundamentally different. Discussion will touch on how dialogue might unfold between a millennia-old spiritual tradition and modern academic society, and what happens to traditional teachings when they cross the boundaries of their Himalayan cultural context and enter Europe - whether they adapt to new surroundings or preserve their original essence.

The gathering will also include a perspective on the life of a Buddhist teacher - their daily practice, responsibilities, and both the joyful and challenging aspects of this role.

The lecture will offer space not only for transmitting Buddhist teachings, but above all for open dialogue about mind, humanity, and ways of understanding one's own experience.
