Description was written before the event

An educational programme called Virtual University of the Third Age for seniors held at the Chapel of the Revelation of the Lord in Smiřice.

About the venue: Kaple Zjevení Páně

A baroque castle chapel in Smiřice, built between 1699 and 1711 for Count Jan Josef of Sternberg. The design is attributed to Kryštof Dientzenhofer or Jan Blažej Santini - no building plans have survived. The floor plan is a slightly elongated octagon with concave-convex curved walls, and the interior has remained largely unchanged since completion. The main altarpiece, Petr Brandl's "Adoration of the Magi" (1727), is a national cultural monument in its own right; the chapel has held that status since 1995. Visits are by prior arrangement or as part of guided tours.
