Don't Be Afraid, Don't Be Afraid!
Divadlo Husa na provázku, Brno
And when will I finally stop being afraid?
It hides under the bed while we sleep. It lurks in the curtains that suddenly sway in a draft. It waits in the corners of abandoned houses and in the silence before an important decision. It weakens our knees at heights, whispers in our ear before every step into the unknown. It accompanies us on the first day of school, the first day at a new job, and – believe it or not – even on the first day of retirement.
Everyone meets fear from time to time – whether we are five or eighty. It walks through life with us, and at every age it wears a different face. It grows, shrinks, stretches, disappears, and reappears – like shadows that lose their frightening appearance in the morning and turn into ordinary things around us. Sometimes we need to fight it, and sometimes it is enough just to accept it. Although we have always been told that only the weak are afraid and success awaits the fearless.
Members of Studio 60+, an amateur ensemble for seniors at the Husa na provázku Theatre, are embarking on their third journey into original creative work. This time they enter into a dialogue with Milada Rezková's children's book Don't Be Afraid, Don't Be Afraid! – through work with objects and their shadows, they overcome their own fears and uncertainties, and show that even the most experienced can be afraid.
The production is intended for everyone who has the courage to be afraid – from five to one hundred and fifty years old.
