Swedish guitarist Alf Carlsson and Czech trumpeter Jiří Kotača met during their studies in Rotterdam. From this encounter, a band gradually emerged that bridges the Czech, Slovak, and Swedish jazz scenes. The duo is completed by Slovak musicians Peter Korman on double bass and bass guitar, and Kristián Kuruc on drums.

The quartet's music draws from modern jazz and naturally incorporates Scandinavian lyricism, jazz-rock, pop, rock, and R'n'B. Strong melodies and vibrant electronics that expand the sound of trumpet and electric guitar play a prominent role.

The concert will primarily feature compositions from the second album Our Stories (2024), for which the quartet won the Anděl Prize 2024 in the Jazz category. The album contains nine original compositions by all four members and demonstrates their ability to blend diverse musical influences into a cohesive whole - from lyrical passages through modern jazz to jazz-rock and funk moments.

About the venue: Broumov Monastery

The Benedictine Monastery of Broumov, a national cultural monument perched on a rocky spur above the Stěnava river in the centre of Broumov, was founded in the 14th century. In the early 18th century, Kryštof Dientzenhofer and his son Kilián Ignác rebuilt the complex in the Baroque style. The year-round tour circuit includes the Church of St. Adalbert, a refectory housing a unique 1651 copy of the Turin Shroud – the only one in Central Europe north of the Alps – and a historic library. The monastery is home to the Educational and Cultural Centre Broumov, which organises concerts, exhibitions and educational programmes.
