Heavenly Jerusalem

Roh ulic Kateřinská a Ke Karlovu, Prague

A guided walking tour "Prague with Eyes Wide Open" traces the marks of Heavenly Jerusalem in Prague — Christian symbolism that Charles IV incorporated directly into the city's layout. Six churches are positioned so that connecting them with an imaginary line forms a symbolic cross. They are the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, Church of St. Charles the Great, Church of St. Apollinaris, Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Na trávníčku, and the Emaus Monastery. Your guide is architect and Gothic enthusiast Miroslav Křižan.

The walk will take participants into the interiors of these churches founded by Charles IV — including the Church of St. Charles the Great and the Virgin Mary, where you can view the organs in the gallery. You will also visit the bell tower and the Bethlehem Cave. The route is approximately 3 km long and lasts 2.5 hours; it begins at the corner of Kateřinská and Ke Karlovu streets and ends at the Na Slovanech Monastery.
