Prague at the Dawn of Transformation
Prague Exhibition Centre, Prague
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Prague underwent a dramatic transformation from a medieval provincial town into a modern industrial metropolis. The development of water supply systems, the introduction of gas and electricity, and numerous other inventions fundamentally changed the face of the city - many of which were presented to the public at the Jubilee Industrial Exhibition of 1891.
This walking tour explores the background of the exhibition and the events before and after it. The route begins in the Výstaviště area, continues through Stromovka, and returns to Výstaviště.
Meeting point: in front of the entrance gate to the Holešovice Výstaviště (near the Výstaviště tram stop - lines 1, 6, 17, 25)
