Schools - Welcome to the Gallery

This 90-minute programme for schools begins with a simple question - "What is a gallery?" - and spends the entire session seeking the answer. Students take on the roles of art lovers and apprentices, tracing the origins of the gallery and its purpose through time.

Together they explore what can be seen in a gallery, who visits it, and what such a place is for. They practically try their hand at "founding" a gallery and enriching it with basic artistic genres - portraiture, landscape painting, and still life. The programme relates to works by František Kupka, Antonín Slavíček, Josef Navrátil and other artists, and was created on the occasion of the gallery's anniversary.
