Come to Yourself and You'll Feel Better
Who are we when no one is watching? The performance "Come to Yourself and You'll Feel Better" directed by Anna Klimešová and Petr Erbes is a collective performative poem about self-worth, solitude, and the courage to be yourself. Eighteen young performers create a theatrical world through movement, music, video projections, and personal testimonies, returning to the words they have heard about themselves since childhood. It asks whether it is possible to reach "yourself" outside the voices of parents, friends, or anonymous observers that we carry within ourselves.
The music was composed by Mikuláš Mia Ekrt, the scenography by Lucia Krausová, and the video projections by Erik Bartoš. The central motif is a circle - a space where one can enter and remain oneself, or conversely, feel how fragile it can be to expose one's presence to the gaze of others. The creators examine a generation growing up under constant pressure to be evaluated, where attention becomes a measure of self-worth.
The project emerged from an open call regardless of prior experience - on stage, therefore, young people from different backgrounds meet, some for the first time. The collectively created script forms a mosaic of a generation learning to name its doubts, dreams, anxieties, and need for acceptance.
The performance offers no simple answers. It poses them aloud: What would our body and mind do if they were truly free? Do I like myself? Do I like myself?
