False Friends of Ordinary People

This production is based on an essay by Austrian political journalist and writer Robert Misik and explores the causes of contemporary right-wing populism. It traces how the disregard for the working class developed within class society, how it manifests today, and how it is exploited by the "false friends of ordinary people".

The production comments on the growing and now fully established European populism and nationalism, exposes the hypocrisy in the rhetoric of urban elites, and examines the psychology of the periphery - not only the margins of states and forgotten regions, but also the inner peripheries of cities and towns.
