Architecture Day: Brno - Škrty Live: Solutions to Your Housing

As part of Architecture Day: Brno - between walks through Brno's architecture and debates on housing estates, gentrification, and affordable housing - comes a live episode of the economic and social satirical podcast Škrty.

The Bittner brothers will attempt to name the main causes of the Czech housing crisis, which rest on three pillars: demand, supply, and confusion around the concept of land. The performance will also include what is typically missing from housing debates: solutions. The proposals will be simple, systematic, and compatible with democratic rule of law except for complete trivialities. Along with an absolute minimum of civilian casualties, it will undoubtedly be one of the most thoughtful concepts of Czech housing policy in recent decades.

After 5 seasons and dozens of live shows - including an autumn tour of the regions - the Škrty podcast has earned a solid place on the Czech podcast scene. In 2026, thanks to thousands of public votes, it reached the top 100 Czech podcasts and top 5 in the Business and Technology category, topics they don't actually cover at all. The Bittner brothers - philosopher Petr and economist Jan - are actually just building their category, and together with their loyal audience showing signs of a cult, they are laying the foundations of political economy in a country that has been economically ruled by communists and Václav Klaus, where preachers of economic truth are economists from banks and investment companies, where the largest economics faculties are dominated by people like Miroslav Ševčík, and where the governor of the Czech National Bank is Aleš Michl.
