Inglourious Basterds

World War II according to Quentin Tarantino - historical reality gives way to a darkly fantastical narrative.

Young Shosanna (Melanie Laurent) has her entire family murdered by German officer Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). She escapes to Paris and hides under a new identity as the owner of a cinema. Elsewhere, under the command of American Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt), an unconventional military unit forms - the Basterds. Their mission is to eliminate Nazi elites so effectively that they spread fear and panic among their ranks.

Both storylines converge in a Parisian cinema, where a German propaganda epic is premiering with Nazi leadership in attendance. The Basterds plan to infiltrate the event and show the Third Reich's leaders what it feels like to face death. But they don't account for Shosanna, the orphaned girl, who is plotting her own revenge beneath the projector's light - and when two brilliant assassination attempts collide, the result could be an even more brilliant failure.
