Zdeněk Tománek (born 1958 in Uherské Hradiště) is a Czech sculptor, painter and teacher whose work spans free-standing sculpture, public art installations, painting and drawing. He trained in stone sculpture at the SUPŠ art school in Uherské Hradiště, then studied monumental sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and at the Akademie der schöne Künste in Berlin. His works are held by the National Gallery Prague, the National Museum, the Muzeum Sztuki Medalierskie in Wrocław, and private collections across Japan, the USA, France and Finland. Since 1990 he has led the stone sculpture programme at SUPŠ Uherské Hradiště.
Tománek's Semafor sculpture - an object with three skulls instead of lights on a seven-meter pole - was installed in Míru Square in Rýmařov and provoked mixed public reactions.
Tománek participated in the inaugural edition of the Zlín International Biennial of Fine Arts, which presented 43 artists from the Visegrád Four countries.
A guided tour of Tománek's extensive retrospective exhibition took place at the Slovak Museum in Uherské Hradiště with the artist's participation.
The Slovak Museum in Uherské Hradiště opened a partial retrospective of Tománek, which presented both contemporary and earlier works (the exhibition ran until October 2024).
