Vlastimil Šmída is an Ostrava-based pianist, keyboardist and composer, one of the key figures in the jazz scene of the Moravian-Silesian region. He teaches at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava and at the University of Ostrava. His collaborations span jazz and pop, including work with Emil Viklický, the Gustav Brom Big Band and singer Martin Chodúr.
