RETURNS OF WINNERS Václav Hudeček Academy
Two chamber ensembles of Václav Hudeček Academy graduates perform works by Schulhoff and Mendelssohn at the 30th Luhačovice Music Festival.
The Václav Hudeček Academy is a summer masterclass programme for young violinists, founded in 1997 by Czech virtuoso Václav Hudeček (b. 1952) - initially in Kroměříž, then permanently in the spa town of Luhačovice. Since Hudeček does not hold a regular teaching post at any conservatoire, the academy offers a rare chance to study directly with him, alongside violin pedagogue Prof. Jiří Fišer and répétiteur Lukáš Klánský. The winner of each edition receives a master instrument crafted by a Czech luthier and concert engagements with Hudeček; alumni return annually for the 'Návraty vítězů' (Winners' Returns) concerts. Since 2008 the academy has been embedded in the Svátky hudby (Music Celebrations) festival.
The jubilee 30th season of the Václav Hudeček Academy will take place from July 27 to August 7, 2026 in Luhačovice.
The winner of the 29th season of the Academy was violinist Vilém Jirsa, who in addition to a master instrument received the Prize of the Head of the Zlín Region and concerts with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic.
The 29th season of the Academy in Luhačovice (August 4-15, 2025) was attended by 18 young violinists from the Czech Republic; Veronika Petrášová became the new director of the academy.
At the concert "Returns of Winners" the Kukal quartet performed, both of whose violinists Eliška Halečková Kukal and Klára Lešková are laureates of the Václav Hudeček Academy.
