The Real McKenzies are a Vancouver-based Celtic punk band founded in 1992 by Paul McKenzie, the group's only constant member across more than a hundred musicians who have passed through its ranks. Widely credited as the founders of the Canadian Celtic punk movement - predating Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys - they have released fourteen studio albums and built their reputation through relentless touring across North America and Europe. Their sound fuses traditional Scottish folk, bagpipes, and sea shanties with fast-paced punk rock.
The band released a new album Paul McKenzie Sings...On Yer Bike on May 29, 2026 on the Montreal label Stomp Records - the first full-length album since the closure of Fat Wreck Chords.
The band launched a European summer tour 2026, which includes stops in Germany, France, Spain and other countries.
The Real McKenzies will perform July 1-7, 2026 at the Psychobilly Meeting festival in Santa Susanna in Spain.
In November 2025, the band performed a home show in Vancouver at Rickshaw Theatre with The Planet Smashers, Raygun Cowboys and Real Sickies.
In March 2022, drummer Kirby J. Fisher, formerly a member of the band War Baby, joined the lineup.
