Stanislav Malý – Orchid
A solo exhibition by sculptor Stanislav Malý showcasing his wooden sculptures with organic forms and a philosophical message about humanity's connection to nature.
Stanislav Malý is a Czech sculptor, restorer and poet, a graduate of the Hořice stone-carving school and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He lives away from cultural centres in Vysoká near Litomyšl, making his living from restoring stone sculptures - chiefly baroque ones. His wooden pieces are assembled into layered spatial installations that engage with philosophical questions about human origins and our relationship to nature. He rarely exhibits, yet stands out as a singular figure in Czech sculpture.
