Learning from the Landscape

Gočárova galerie, Pardubice

The exhibition Learning from the Landscape is a joint project of Gočárova galerie and Galerie města Pardubic (GAMPA), both located in the Automatické mlýny complex. Two parallel exhibitions were created in dialogue between the institutions and are interconnected through artistic and curatorial intervention. The curators are Pavel Liška (Gočárova galerie) and Piotr Sikora (GAMPA). The exhibition approaches landscape not merely as an image of nature, but as a shared space where power structures, economic relations, and everyday experience meet.

The exhibition at Gočárova galerie draws from the institution's collections and is divided into several thematic units called "lessons". In a smaller space of the former silo, an audiovisual installation by Zlatka and Hanuš Lamr titled "We Are in the Garden" is on view (embroidered textiles and jewellery in contrast with concrete walls, accessible until 28 September 2026). In front of a glass view into the sculpture depot stands the sculpture "Orchid" by sculptor Stanislav Malý. The exhibition is complemented by interventions by Jiří Žák that extend it into the sonic dimension. At GAMPA, international artists are exhibited: Gili Avissar (IL), Larisa Crunțeanu (RO), Stach Szumski & Tosia Kiliś (PL), and Jiří Žák (CZ).

The opening took place on 21 March 2026 at 16:00 in the GAMPA amphitheatre and included guided tours and an opening creative workshop. The exhibition at Gočárova galerie runs until 24 May 2026.
