
GEISSLERS HOFCOMOEDIANTEN: Theatre of Light
An opera about the first master of light in Baroque theatre, performed in the courtyard of the historic Kuks Hospital. Music by Jan Jirásek, directed by Petr Hašek.
Petr Šmíd (born 30 May 1991) is a Czech actor, theatre composer and DJ, a graduate of drama acting at DAMU in Prague. He is a company member at Divadlo Lampion in Kladno and regularly guests at the National Theatre and Prague's independent scene - Meetfactory, Studio hrdinů and Geisslers Hofcomoedianten among others. Alongside acting he composes music for theatre productions and performs occasionally as a DJ under the alias MesserSchmidt. While still a student at DAMU he received a broader nomination for the Thálie Award in 2015 for his role as the Emcee in Cabaret.
Šmíd participated in the musical and sound component of the immersive production Na mizině by the Tygr v tísni ensemble, which premiered at the Plzeň Paper Mill in October 2025.
Czech Radio Vltava broadcast an interview with Šmíd about his experience in digital acting, particularly about his participation in both parts of the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
As a DAMU student, Šmíd received a broad nomination for the Thalia Prize 2014 for the role of Cabaret Master in the production Cabaret at the DISK Theatre - as the very first student of a higher drama school in the history of this award.
