Present Perfect: Imprints of Time in Contemporary Ceramics
An exhibition of ceramics and sculpture bridging historical and contemporary artistic approaches, where century-old works meet new creations in a converted industrial gallery space.
Monika Martykánová (b. 1991) is a Czech artist and designer working primarily in porcelain sculpture. She studied ceramics and porcelain at Prague's UMPRUM under Maxim Velčovský and Milan Pekař. Her figurative works blend traditional craft with sharp contemporary themes - her Dobrá matka (Good Mother, 2015) and Alegorie covidu (2021) series brought her wide recognition, including the Czech Grand Design award for Discovery of the Year. She also works as a realistic tattoo artist, and two of her pieces are held in the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
