Present Perfect: Imprints of Time in Contemporary Ceramics

The exhibition Present Perfect: Imprints of Time in Contemporary Ceramics runs at the Humpolec art zone 8SMIČKA (Kamarytova Street) from May 16 to September 13, 2026. The exhibition traces the footprints of art history on the contemporary visual art scene — whether through direct references to specific older works or looser connections and references to the past of the discipline. The second connecting element is ceramic clay, a material that has accompanied artistic creation from prehistoric times to the present day and is experiencing a new wave of popularity. In the gallery spaces, older clay sculptures meet contemporary works (not only) from ceramics. Among the exhibiting artists are Dominik Adamec, Karíma Al-Mukhtarová, Daniela Baráčková, Barbora Dayef, Habima Fuchs, Otto Gutfreund, Anna Hulačová, Helena Johnová, Marta Jirásková, Josef Kubíček, Monika Martykánová, Jimena Mendoza, Milan Mikuláštík and others. The opening reception took place on May 15, 2026 from 5:00 PM; entry was free without reservation required. Special shuttle buses from Prague and Brno were arranged for the opening (departure at 4:30 PM, return departure from Humpolec at 9:30 PM). The 8SMIČKA zone is an industrial complex transformed into a cultural space that provides contact with modern and contemporary art.
