About

Mirek Kemel (born 1963, Prague) is a Czech caricaturist and folk singer-songwriter who has supplied daily cartoon commentary to the country's leading newspapers since 1991 - from Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny to, since 2014, Právo. As a musician he has released five studio albums, winning the Anděl Award for folk with Mordyjé (2024). On stage he plays accordion, guitar and harmonica; his lyrics are quietly poetic and introspective, a deliberate contrast to the sharp wit of his drawings.
