About

Michal Malátný (born Novotný, 1970, Jičín) is a Czech singer, guitarist, lyricist and occasional actor, best known as the frontman and co-founder of the pop-rock band Chinaski. Over more than three decades he has recorded over ten studio albums with the band, won multiple Anděl and Český slavík awards, and written nearly fifty radio hits - making Chinaski one of the most-played Czech acts since the mid-2000s. He trained as a stage actor at DAMU in Prague and adopted the stage name Malátný (meaning 'languid') because three other Novotnýs were already in his Pardubice theatre company.
