
Dvořák Festival: Biblical Songs
A concert of Dvořák's Biblical Songs performed by mezzo-soprano Dana Šťastná and organist Michal Hanuš in a historic 17th-century timber church, part of the 70th Dvořák Festival.
Michal Hanuš (born 1980, Vrchlabí) is a Czech organist, teacher and festival director. He studied at the Pardubice Conservatory and AMU Prague, with residencies in Stuttgart under Ludger Lohmann and in Oslo under Terje Winge; he received an honorary award at the Prague Spring competition in 2006. For several years he served as resident organist at the churches of St Barbara and St James in Kutná Hora, teaches at the local music school and the Pardubice Conservatory, and since 2011 has been artistic director of the Kutná Hora Organ Festival. He also composes and has collaborated with the Bavarian organ-building firm Orgelbau-Wech.
Michal Hanuš performed at the Hudební léto Kuks festival in July 2026.
In October 2025, Hanuš opened the Slovácký varhanní festival in Uherské Hradiště with a program dedicated to Bach and Mendelssohn.
Hanuš recorded compositions for the first organ jukebox in the Czech Republic, installed in the Church of St. Wenceslas in Harrachov.
Hanuš performed as a soloist at the May concert of the Kutná Hora Chamber Orchestra with Joseph Haydn's organ concerto.
