Matija Solce

About

Matija Solce (born 1981) is a Slovenian puppeteer, actor, musician and director. He founded Teatro Matita in 2002 after training at Bruno Leone's traditional Italian hand puppet school in Naples. His solo shows weave object theatre together with live music - he plays accordion and draws on Balkan, klezmer and other folk traditions. He has received over twenty international awards for his work.

An experimental puppet production by Teatro Matita exploring Russian avant-garde literature. Matija Solce combines absurd tales by Daniil Kharms with an original orchestrion made from accordions, bagpipes and mechanical devices in a grotesque situational comedy.
