TEATRO MATITA: Charms Is Guilty

The production "Charms Is Guilty" is presented by Teatro Matita — actor, puppeteer and musician Matija Solce enters the illogical world of Daniil Kharms, one of the last representatives of the Russian avant-garde. Through delicate animation of soft realistic puppets, objects and materials, as well as grotesque cabaret and instrumental passages, he weaves a situational comedy that questions and provokes contemporary stereotypes through the absurdity of endlessly falling grandmothers.

At the heart of the production is an original instrument — an orchestrion composed of accordions, bagpipes, analog mechanisms, puppet parts, MIDI technology and clocks without hands. This machine brings to life Kharms's story of the Old Woman and other tales whose themes shift in an instant from atmospheric leitmotifs to sarcastic executions of tender characters.
