Markéta Fránová is a Prague-based dancer, acrobat and stilt-walker who works as an architect in her day job. She specialises in kamigata-mai, a style of classical Japanese nihon buyō dance rooted in the Kyoto-Osaka region, with origins dating to the mid-18th century. Since 2021 she has been a formal student of the Kamigatamai Ogawa-ryū school, which she first encountered at a workshop in 2017. On stage she performs in kimono, using painted paper fans and a traditional paper parasol.
Markéta Fránová performed a kamigata-mai dance at the jubilee 10th edition of the Japanese Days festival in Ostrava.
Fránová demonstrated a solo performance of kamigata-mai as part of the Days of Japanese Culture in the Plzen zoological and botanical garden.
Fránová is listed as a performer at the Advík léto 2025 festival with a program of Japanese nihon buyō dance.
