Malalata is a Slovak DJ duo founded in 2007, known for blending Balkan beats, gypsy music, cumbia and reggae into high-energy live sets. They have played festivals including Pohoda, Grape, Uprising and Colours of Ostrava, and shared stages with Goran Bregović, Parov Stelar, Shantel and Fanfare Ciocarlia. Their reach extends well beyond Europe - clubs in Japan and Mexico have hosted them too. Since 2011 they have run the Balkan Bashavel genre-party series, which has built a loyal following across the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Malalata released the single Moravo (Remix), which is their latest recording on Spotify.
In 2025, the duo released three new singles: Tancuj so Mnou (with Lasky & Lukie FWD), Ešte Sa Nejde Spať Remix and Po Schodoch Remix.
Malalata are confirmed for Balkan Night at Špilberk Castle in Brno (7. 8. 2026) alongside Fanfare Ciocarlia and Džambo Aguševi Orchestra.
In January 2026, the party Balkan Bashavel took place at the Prague Radlická cultural sports center with Malalata, Circus Brothers and Spery.
Malalata performed at the Grape 2025 festival, where they are a regular guest since the festival's inception.
