About

Jiří Hájek (born 1976, Pardubice) is a Czech operatic baritone and, since 2008, a principal soloist of the Prague National Theatre Opera. He trained at the Pardubice Conservatory, then with Peter Mikuláš at VŠMU Bratislava and René Tuček at AMU Prague, winning first prize in the song category at the 2003 Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. His core repertoire centres on Mozart baritone roles - Don Giovanni, Papageno, Count Almaviva, Guglielmo - alongside a wide range spanning Dvořák, Smetana, Britten, Wagner and Philip Glass.
