Horňácká cimbálová muzika Petra Mičky was founded in 1999 and has since become one of the leading ensembles performing authentic folk music from south-east Moravia. Bandleader Petr Mička studied ethnology with a musicology focus at Masaryk University and worked as a folk-music dramaturg for Czech Radio Brno. Alongside festival appearances, the band has crossed genre boundaries - most notably on the double album Hrubá Hudba (2019), a collaboration with Jiří Hradil and the nu-jazz group Lesní zvěř.

    Horňácká muzika by Petra Mičky participates in Horňácké slavnosti 2026 in Velká nad Veličkou (July 16-19), where Horňácké regionální centrum - founded by Petr Mička - prepares an exhibition of medallions of Horňácké personalities.

    The muzika performed at the Prague House of Photography as part of the exhibition Pražská Pallas and Moravská Hellas with a repertoire from the time of Rodin's visit to Moravia.

  • 2019

    The muzika released a double album Hrubá Hudba with Indies Scope, on which authentic Horňácké folklore and the original music of Jiří Hradil stand side by side; more than thirty performers participated in the recording.
