The Planets is an orchestral suite by the English composer Gustav Holst, completed in 1916. Its seven movements are named after planets of the solar system and evoke their astrological character, ranging from the warlike Mars through gentle Venus to mystic Neptune. It remains one of the most frequently performed orchestral works of the 20th century, known for its rich scoring and large orchestra.
