Henri Rousseau (1844–1910) was a French self-taught painter known as "Le Douanier" after his job as a customs officer. He is celebrated for his naïve style, vivid jungle scenes, and dreamlike compositions. Despite no formal training, his work influenced avant-garde artists such as Picasso.
