
KHWOSHCH: The Nutcracker. A Vegetable Cabaret.
A fairy-tale vegetable ballet set to Tchaikovsky's music by the young creators of KHWOSHCH. A puppet show full of imagination and a fresh take on a classic story.
Daria Gosteva is a Russian scenographer and theatre maker based in Prague, where she studies at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre (KALD DAMU). She founded the international ensemble KHWOSHCH, which brings together DAMU students and German musicians. Her productions - Dinopera, Moskva-Dachnoye and The Nutcracker: Vegetable Ballet - treat puppetry, objects and scenography as core dramaturgical tools. Dinopera won second place at the One Flew Over the Puppeteer's Nest festival and an honorary award at Skupa's Pilsen.
The KHWOSHCH ensemble presented the production Shakespearean Puppet Mass at the Flyover Above the Puppet Nest festival in Prague at the Alfred ve dvoře theater.
The production Nutcracker: Vegetable Ballet was presented at the international festival FIMFA Lx 2025 in Lisbon.
Daria Gosteva and Anastasia Dobrodinskaya received the Plzen City Prize for puppet work for the production Nutcracker: Vegetable Ballet.
The KHWOSHCH ensemble is working on a new production of Shakespearean Puppet Mass, in which all four members of the ensemble participate.
The documentary puppet performance Moskva-Dachnoye was included in the New Network for Ukraine project and was performed in regions of the Czech Republic.
