KHWOSHCH: A Shakespearean Puppet Mass — Baroque Complex Kuks, Kuks

A visual and musical interpretation of Shakespearean texts that come alive in images embroidered with precious fabrics and jewels, printed on sugar paper or painted on brass sheet. Glimpses of stories, characters and texts combine into a puppet ritual performed by two women at a round jewellery box called the Globe.

The project is realized with financial support from DAMU, the Czech Ministry of Culture, Nová síť z. s., and Prague 7 district.

KHWOSHCH is a Czech-Russian-German theatre collective based between Prague and Berlin. The group works with experimental puppet theatre, combining it with other scenic forms (ballet, liturgy, text theatre) and explores the phenomenon of animation through three-dimensional objects. It works with matter and music as primary dramaturgical elements and applies a devised approach to creation.
