BENGAS 25 Years on Stage!
The Romani band BENGAS celebrates their 25th anniversary with a full-lineup concert aboard a theatrical boat. Expect live music, special guests from the band's history, and complimentary naval rum for first-time visitors.
BENGAS is a Prague-based Roma band formed in autumn 2001 in the Žižkov district. Fronted by Milan "Migel" Horvát, the group builds its sound on Spanish semi-acoustic guitars, blending Romani folk with Balkan music, Latin rhythms and funk - all sung in Romani. Over more than two decades they have performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Sziget festival in Budapest, and on stages in New York, London and Paris; at home they toured with Hana Hegerová and in 2004 opened for the Gipsy Kings.
Founding member of the band BENGAS Milan "Migel" Horvát performed in August 2024 at the Letní Letná festival in Prague as part of the Trio Romano project.
Members of the band BENGAS participated in September 2024 in the Gipsy Brothers project, which performed as the opening act at Gregory Porter's concert at Prague's O2 universum.
The portal Romea.cz published in November 2024 an extensive profile interview with frontman Milan "Migel" Horvát on the occasion of the band's 22 years on stage.
In November 2022, the band celebrated 20 years of existence with a big celebration at Café NONA at the New Stage of the National Theatre in Prague.
