Béla Tarr is a Hungarian film director known for his slow, contemplative style and long, unbroken takes. His magnum opus Sátántangó (1994) is a seven-hour black-and-white film based on László Krasznahorkai's novel. Tarr is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in world art cinema.
