Batala Praha is a Prague-based samba reggae percussion ensemble founded in 2018, playing the Afro-Brazilian style that originates from Salvador da Bahia. It belongs to the Batala Mundo network - launched in Paris in 1997 by Bahian musician Giba Gonçalves - which now spans 46 groups across 17 countries. The band performs without amplification at parades, festivals and open-air events, and runs public drumming workshops.
Batala Praha participated in a parade at a Mexican festival in Prague organized by the group Las Adelitas.
Prague hosted the 4th Central European Batala-Encontro meeting with the participation of Mestre Giby Gonçalvese and bands from around the world.
Batala Praha performed together with Batala Austria and Batala Polska at the opening of the European Youth Games for people with disabilities in Brno.
