Audience

About

Audience is a one-act tragicomedy by Václav Havel, written in 1975 during his ban from the theatre. The play centres on a peculiar deal offered to dissident Ferdinand Vaněk by a brewery foreman - a situation that lays bare the absurdity and moral compromises of life under normalization. It is one of Havel's most frequently staged works.
