Aleš Briscein is a Czech operatic tenor born in Liberec, a soloist of the National Theatre in Prague since his debut there in 1995. His repertoire spans Czech opera (Smetana, Dvořák, Janáček, Fibich), Italian, German, French and Russian works, and he regularly appears at leading European houses including the Opéra national de Paris and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. In 2018, Bachtrack ranked him 7th among the world's busiest opera singers; he holds two Thália Awards and the Austrian Musiktheaterpreis.
Briscein sings the role of Laci Klemeně in a new production of Janáček's Její pastorkyně at the National Theatre Prague - the premiere took place on June 5, 2026, with repeat performances continuing until the end of the month.
The magazine Květy published an extensive interview with Briscein in February 2026, in which the tenor talks about his roles and non-musical interests.
In May 2025, Briscein sang the triple role of Mazal/Blankytný/Petřík in a concert performance of Janáček's Výlety páně Broučkovy at London's Barbican Hall under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle with the London Symphony Orchestra.
In March 2025, the Berlin premiere of the production of Výlety páně Broučkovy took place at Staatsoper Unter den Linden, where Briscein again performed the triple role under the direction of Simon Rattle.
In June 2024, Supraphon released a studio recording of Janáček's Výlety páně Broučkovy with the National Theatre Orchestra; The Guardian praised Briscein's performance in the triple role as outstanding.
