Academik jazz Band

About

Academic Jazz Band Přerov is a jazz orchestra from the Moravian city of Přerov, founded in 1958 by grammar school students under the name Dixieland XI.A. Since 1966 it has operated under its current name, focusing on hot jazz of the 1920s and 1930s - drawing on arrangements by Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson, Don Redman and McKinney's Cotton Pickers. Regarded as one of the few authentic exponents of this style in Europe, the band is a regular guest at festivals in France, Spain, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
