National Theatre Brno - Janáček Theatre

Brno

About the venue

Janáček Theatre is the largest of the three buildings of the National Theatre Brno and one of the biggest theatre venues in Europe. It opened on 2 October 1965 to designs by architects Otakar Oplatek and Jan Víšek, and is regarded as a prime example of the so-called Brussels style. The 1,155-seat auditorium is home mainly to opera and ballet, and also hosts the Brno Philharmonic and the Moravian Autumn festival. A major renovation was completed in 2018.
