Tělocvičná jednota Sokol Olomouc traces its roots to the founding assembly of February 1870. The modern sokolovna on 17. listopadu street was ceremonially opened in July 1928; after four decades of forced dissolution under the communist regime, the club was re-established in 1990 and recovered the building through restitution in 1994. Today it runs all-round Sokol gymnastics, health exercise classes and several sports sections, with the gyms also available for hire by schools and the public.
